"Creation Regained" Reading Group

Well, our first meeting went quite well, except that it is the season of sickness, so three of the members could not make it. So it was the younger generation on Friday night (Sherri and I were the oldest). We sat around our table, eating Sherri's wonderful desserts (Pavlova, Creme Brulee, and fruit, for this interested) and having wonderful discussion.

Since we only read 11 pages of the book, the first chapter in which Dr. Wolters introduces and attempts to define 'world view', we could go in depth into these ideas.

Our discussion involved a number of questions, some of which I actually thought to record as we were talking. Not record as in having a tape recording, but recording as in taking notes. Here are some of the things we discussed:

• Is World view an individual or collective thing? Can only individuals have world view, or can a group have a collective world view? Or would we rather call the latter something else?
• Is Faith an underlying foundation of world view, or is it part of the world view?
• Can a person define their own world view, or even look at it 'objectively'?
• What about epistemological humility? Do w ethink that our world view is a comprehensive system, or do we acknowledge our inherent limitations?
• Can children have world views?
• Are the terms world view and ideology synonymous?

This is the fun that we had late into the night. And hopefully more people can make it to the next one, and so we can come up with more question.

But for now, I am going to go eat some supper.
